PicketFX in Action
PicketFX® Picket Railing FAQ
What size are the PicketFX pickets?
PicketFX uses 5/8" x 5/8" square aluminum pickets. This profile provides a substantial, quality appearance while maintaining adequate sightlines between the balusters.
How does PicketFX compare to CableFX for views?
CableFX provides more open views since the thin cables are nearly invisible. PicketFX offers a more traditional look with pickets that are visible but slender. Choose CableFX for maximum view preservation and PicketFX for a classic aesthetic at a lower price point.
Is PicketFX the most affordable RailFX option?
Yes. PicketFX is generally the most budget-friendly option in the RailFX lineup since it doesn't require stainless steel cables or tempered glass. The all-aluminum construction keeps costs down while maintaining the same premium frame and finish quality.
Can PicketFX be used on stairs?
Absolutely. PicketFX includes stair-specific posts and the picket spacing automatically adjusts to meet code requirements on stair sections. The system supports smooth transitions between level and stair runs.
What maintenance does PicketFX require?
Virtually none. The AAMA 2605 powder-coat finish resists fading, chalking, and corrosion. An occasional wash with soap and water is all that's needed to keep PicketFX looking new. No painting, staining, or sealing — ever.
Can I mix PicketFX and CableFX in the same project?
Yes — this is one of the biggest advantages of the RailFX system. Since all three infill options (cable, glass, picket) share the same post and rail components, you can mix infill types within the same project. For example, cable on the deck and pickets on the stairs.
