Trex Railing FAQ

What types of Trex railing are available?

Trex offers four railing lines: Signature (aluminum with glass, mesh, rod, or square infill), Transcend (premium composite with multiple baluster styles), Select (composite with square balusters), and Enhance (available in steel or composite — the most affordable option).

Can I mix different Trex railing and decking lines?

Absolutely. While each railing line coordinates with its decking counterpart, mixing is encouraged. Aluminum Signature railing looks stunning on any Trex deck color, and Enhance railing pairs well with mid-range decking for a balanced build.

Is Trex railing code-compliant?

Yes. All Trex railing systems are engineered to meet residential building codes for height, strength, and baluster spacing. Select the proper height (36" or 42") based on your local code requirements.

What infill options does Trex offer?

Trex Signature offers four infill styles: glass panels, mesh panels, rod rail, and square balusters — all in aluminum. Transcend offers square and round baluster options. Select uses square balusters. Enhance Composite uses round aluminum balusters, while Enhance Steel uses square steel balusters.

How do I choose between aluminum and composite railing?

Aluminum railing (Signature) offers the sleekest modern look, is 100% recyclable, and works for commercial projects. Composite railing (Transcend, Select, Enhance) provides a warmer, more traditional aesthetic and comes at a lower price point. Both are maintenance-free.
